A new service from London Mosaic Restoration.
We are now supplying our range of "Victorian Mosaic" on sheets.
This system is often used when applying mosaic to floors and walls. The common method employed by most manufacturers is to glue a fibre mesh to the underside of the tile.
Our system uses a face mounted adhesive film with excellent strength characteristics.
This film is strong enough to hold the tiles in place for transit and installation, yet is designed to release after installation without leaving adhesive residue on the tiles.
Points to consider
1.The film is very hard to tear or stretch but can be easily cut with a craft knife for minor adjustments.
2.The film is transparent allowing the installer to view the design.
The adhesive is water resistant, so no adhesion is lost due to accidental exposure to water.
3.The film is mounted on the face of the tiles allowing 100% contact of the back of the tile to the mortar.
4.Full contact with the face of the tile means it has self levelling properties, eliminating minor discrepancies in tile thickness.
5.Approximately 1 square foot of tiles are laid in one application.
6.Ensures accurate straight alignment, minimal grout lines resulting in a crisp clean finish.
7.When the tiles have been fixed and set, the clear film is simply peeled off, leaving no residue on the surface of the tile.
Service
We are able to supply a complete bespoke design to your specifications.
This service is available for both multicoloured and monochrome designs.
Firstly you will need to choose a design. Click here to view designs.
You will then need to supply dimensions, see here for an example. For a Victorian pathway, it is usually just length and width.
For interior installations such as hall floors, a more accurate foot-print with dimensions is required.
With this information we will then provide you with a costing.
What you will receive.
The design is sheeted up in panels measuring approximately 300mm square.
The border comes as a strip.
Also supplied loose are the inner and outer lines, along with spare component tiles for adjustments.
Not all the sheets are square, some will be odd shapes and are numbered.
With the sheeted design will be supplied two diagrams, one showing the position of the sheets, the other the layout.
You will also receive a set of guidelines with details, hints and tips on how to achieve the best results.
This system has been designed to provide our clients with a high quality product that can be efficiently installed by all qualified tilers.
The end result is a fine reproduction Victorian style design.
