An installation of a new Victorian style hall floor design.
The original Victorian tiles were removed, repairs were made to the base, and the new scheme installed.
The design is created using a new range of reproduction Victorian style mosaic tiles.
These tiles are metric in size and so are slightly smaller than the Victorian imperial sizes.
The tiles are highly vitreous, with low porosity and are suitable for interior and exterior use.
The chequer board is composed, using a 70mm square, the border again uses a triangle 70 x 70 x 100mm.
The techniques we use, enable the design to be fitted with very slight grout lines, no wider than approx 1.5-2mm. This gives the design a very authentic appearance.
It is common in schemes such as these that the border design runs around the entire area, but not around the foot of the stairs. This gives the impression that the stairs sit upon the design, creating a greater sense of space.
The designs in the thresholds are common to most chequerboard schemes and allow the border to run across uninterrupted.
